Chris Tucci serves as BCI’s Director of Programs, overseeing venue planning, concert and program activities, and the chorister experience. We asked Chris some questions to learn more about his interests.

What’s one of your favorite musical memories and why?

Witnessing Klaus Makela’s debut at the Berlin Philharmonic is a moment that changed my musical life. We heard Shostakovich and Tschaikovsky 6ths and I was fully transported into the heart of the music. I have never felt more connected as an audience member.

What’s your proudest professional accomplishment so far?

I am so immensely proud of the collective effort to bring Considering Matthew Shepard together in the summer of 2025. Handling the logistical framework for the week while also directing the staging of CMS was so invigorating. It’s not often that a week asks me to bring both hemispheres of my brain! It was an invigorating week of fixing golf cart tires, ferrying luggage up stairs, teaching waving wind choreography, and hosting the Shepard family.

If you could invite 3 people living or dead to a dinner party, who would you invite (and why)?

I’d love to bring my recently departed sister-in-law Lisa. I’d like her to know my brother is doing better every day and the three kids are thriving. To round out the table I’d invite Catherine O’Hara as she’d keep us laughing. The final guest would be my friend Lyndsay Kagy. We worked together at Heidelberg University and she always made everyone around her feel seen.

What is a favorite hobby or interest that you do in your spare time?

I spend a lot of time away from BCI as the head football coach at our local high school. I also play Magic the Gathering- bring your cards if you’d like to shuffle up!

What’s a TV show or movie that folks should be watching?

The Great British Baking Show!

What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve received?

“Is this what you want?” I was struggling in a tough situation and a mentor asked the simplest question. It made me realize where I had agency in a situation where I had felt helpless and gave me the courage to act.

Favorite place you have traveled to?

Paris. It was my first true vacation overseas and it met every expectation I had.

Why do you enjoy working with BCI?

There are two main things I love about working at BCI. My colleagues are all kind, hard-working professionals. It makes everything we do so much easier! My second favorite part is the moments after a BCI concert when I hear from so many, “This was the greatest musical moment of my life.” Getting to be a small part of so much joy is a great way to spend a work day.
